President Donald Trump stood accused March 12, 2018 of caving in to the US gun lobby one month after the Florida school shooting, as the White House pushed ahead with plans to arm teachers but backpedaled on curbing access to assault rifles. Under pressure to act after a teenager killed 17 people with a semi-automatic rifle in Parkland, Trump had signalled support for raising from 18 to 21 the federal minimum age for purchasing the powerful weapons.

(LaPresse/AFP) – La procura della Florida ha annunciato che ha intenzione di chiedere la pena di morte per Nikolas Cruz, il 19enne ex studente della Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School di Parkland che lo scorso 14 febbraio aprì il fuoco nella scuola uccidendo 17 persone.
Cruz comparirà mercoledì in tribunale per la messa in stato d’accusa formale. Su di lui pendono 17 capi di accusa per omicidio. I suoi avvocati hanno fatto sapere che accetterebbe di dichiararsi colpevole in cambio della garanzia di una non esecuzione.
